Brazil Cyber Defence was created at the time of Brazil's economic recovery and intends to become a national and international reference in matters related to cyber defence, cyber security, communications and electronic warfare.
The event was designed to promote the debate of Defence and Security issues between the Armed Forces and Public Security, industry sectors, academia, public and private institutions, society and the Brazilian government, as well as generating business. Its objective is to sensitize Brazilian society and the country's public administration about the importance of cyber defence, cyber security, communications and electronic warfare.
In relation to the internet and cyberspace, Brazil is a unique market, unlike anywhere else in the world. First because of its continental size and the number of people connected to the internet. And second, by the lack of awareness of the importance of cyber security by government, companies and the end user. A recent report on the digital economy released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) placed Brazil in fourth place in the world ranking of Internet users, with 120 million people connected.
Increased cyber threats and vulnerabilities in networks and information systems require action to safeguard national capacity and other governance structures against possible cybernetic hostile actions, as well as to reduce their effects. In addition to compromising information and communications technology infrastructure, cyber threats can jeopardize the assets of critical government infomation and critical strategic structures, directly affecting National Security.
Despite the investments that have been made, Brazil has vulnerabilities in the networks and its information systems. In addition, the country does not have an electronic and telecommunication equipment industry that can substitute a large part of imported components for its internal networks, considered critical to ensure the availability, confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of its internal communications.
Brazil Cyber Defence brings together exhibitors and visitors in an event space considered one of the best in Brazil and offers participants the oppor- tunity to discuss and interact with large companies and institutions, users, specialists, startups, academia and renowned national and international speakers who will be sharing experiences and exchanging knowledge.
For all this, Brazil Cyber Defence is already a success that offers several opportunities to all its participants.
